The Park

Sycamore Springs Park is a privately owned and funded park. The park is open to individuals and social, civic and religious groups for recreational and educational purposes. It is a beautiful 250 acre farm just outside of English, Indiana, with a long and documented history. We have created an environmentally protected, natural resource that youth and adults alike can enjoy. The abundant wild life, native to this area, makes any trip here enjoyable and educational and gives groups a chance to explore the beauty of nature.
Deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, coyotes, foxes, beavers are a very good representation of animals native to the area and are seen in the park. The Little Blue River forms the boundaries on three sides of the park. Little Blue River is a small river that changes with the seasons, being very full in the spring and shrinking to a very small stream in the height of the dry season of July and August.
The park has picnic areas with tables, benches and camping areas with electricity and running water. At present there are three shelter houses in the park. These may be reserved for your group. A wedding chapel is under construction.
Thirteen thousand white pines were planted and this is, today, one of the areas set aside as a picnic area. The area is kept clear of underbrush, mowed and well manicured. Ponds on the land are being developed and are fed with natural spring water.
The park is seasonal and opens fully on May 1 each year and closes on November 1. All facilities are open for these six months.
The Park is open daylight hours only. Only those staying the night in the park are given the codes to the gates after closing each day. Evening events which are open to the public can be arranged in the Band Stand area. There are areas specifically set aside for RV’s and overnight camping and available at no cost to the camper. The Park also offers fishing, hiking, swimming, picnicking and camping - all free of charge.. There is no hunting on the property.
