Welcome to Sycamore Springs:
Fishing:
This pond is stocked for fishing. It is located on the main road (Tunnel Hill Road) just past the main entrance of the park |
Pine Plantings:
Observe this Pine forest as you arrive at the main entrance to the park. These trees were planted in the early 1960s. |
Baby Bambi:
On June 1,2008, Baby Bambi was born in the park. Here Bambi is resting and waiting for his mother to come back. The mother came back at dusk and took Bambi with her but gave us all day to take pictures and observe Bambi. |
Early Morning:
Early morning scene in the park. Bridge is under construction to become a covered bridge. The bridge leads to further park expansion. |
Friends Meeting Friends:
The Bluffs:
The park bandstand is located in this bluff area. The bandstand is available for free use but advance reservations are needed. |
Little Blue River:
Playing in the River is a favorite passtime of young and old. |
Bridge:
The park as seen from the bridge. |
The Handicap:
Golf carts and quiet vehicles may be used by the handicap and their four footed friends. |
Nature Takes Over:
Large tree pulled out by the roots during a tornado in the park. It has been left for all to see. |
Ponds:
At present there are 4 ponds in the park. One of them has traditionally had ducks enjoying the pond. However, due to an over abundance of predators, the ducks are no longer there. |
The park is a great place for families.:
There's ample wildlife in the park and they find the park quite relaxing too. Ducks are on one pond and in Little Blue River. Fishing information can be requested from park personel. |
Camp Granada:
Camp Granada is a favorite with our scouts and larger groups. Firewood is nearby but water must be carried from the faucet. Port-a-potties are nearby but showers and modern restrooms are available a little further away. |
RV Camping:
We now have 20 free RV camping sites with electricity. Water and firewood are nearby. Of course, Little Blue River is right there also. Swings and playhouse are close by. |
What a great spot for relaxin':
RV site with an outdoor kitchen made by guest is ready to go. |
Bea's Shelter House:
Bea's Hive Shelter House: Nearby is the Wooley Spring branch (loved by children for wading) and a playground including a tree house. Named for Clayton Roberson's wife, this shelter house has a water fountain and electricity.
WATCH FOR ADDITIONAL PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT IN THIS AREA FOR SMALLER CHILDREN. |
Prize Catch:
A beautiful day to go fishing and it's even better when you catch one. The Little Blue River runs along the edge of the park and is a great spot for camping and fishing. |
Just Beautiful:
Formerly fields farmed by Clayton Roberson but now often site of large scout tent camping. Little Blue River is along edge of trees in the background. |
Playgrounds for the children:
Sycamore Springs Park is a great getaway for adults but children love it too. |
Space, space and more space:
Lots of beautiful scenic views and ample area for the family to enjoy. |
Scouts Shelter House:
Our largest shelter house on the hill overlooking Little Blue River. It is called the "Scouts" shelter house as it is located in woods which is the future site of proposed 10 cabins and is being developed primarily for scout and church groups. |
The Bluffs:
Viewed from Bluffs Shelter House. There is a bandstand nearby, open music for music programs, free of charge. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. |
Shelter:
May and October mornings and evenings can be chilly. This group found a way to shelter their eating area |
Restroom and Showers:
Shower and modern restrooms are behind Bea's Hive Shelter house. They are for use by anyone visiting the park |
Geese Guarding Pond:
Geese make a lot of noise but have never bothered fishermen or anyone enjoying the pond |
The Cliffs:
Cliffs have been covered for years with falling debris. These have recently been uncovered and work goes on. |
Playground:
This playground will be in Camp-Run-A-Muck when it opens later this year. Meanwhile the playground is there to be used by all. The merry-go-round was donated and came from a school where it was used many years ago. The tree house was built by a Roberson son for his grandchild and moved to this location. |
Lil' Blue River Adventure:
Rubber rafts can be used during the high water season. Water toys can be used all summer but the water is not high enough for rafting much of the year. This group seems to be enjoying the adventure. |
Primitive Camping:
The park is great for scout groups of all ages. We encourage you to call and arrange a time to bring your group to Sycamore Springs Park. |
Sycamore Springs Park Pines:
This is approaching the entrance after crossing the low-water bridge. Continue up the hill to main entrance unless you are pulling an RV. RVs should enter to the left of this sign through the Exit Gate. |
Playground:
Playground near the bandstand and the Bluffs shelter house. Little Blue River is by tree line. |
Rv Camping:
Sites are rustic and furnished with electricity only. However, water is nearby as well as showers and restrooms. Free firewood and port-a-potties are also near the camping area. |
Future expansion:
Across the bridge you can see into the forest that will become part of the future expanse of the park. Hiking in this area is already permitted. |
